WEAVE

Jeni Walwin was the public art consultant for this project for the Vivo Development in Tower Hamlets. East Thames Housing Group commissioned artist Henna Nadeem to create works for fifteen entrances in each of three buildings. In her research of local archives Henna was attracted to the history of the local textile industry and her proposals were inspired by the work of the Spitalfields silk weavers. Her early designs have now been developed into more abstract reflections on these patterns and are built up into sculptural reliefs that create a connected series of works in each of the three buildings.
